It’s an exciting time for the city of Nottingham, as plans for a brand new bioscience site have been submitted for approval. This project will represent the next phase of The Island Quarter development, which already features 1600 new homes, 20 vibrant bars and restaurants, across 36 acres in a prime location [1].

An Exciting New Bioscience Park

The Island Quarter is conveniently situated right by Nottingham’s existing bioscience research hub, making it the ideal location for such a new development. And the company behind the plans, Conygar Investment, is excited about the opportunity that it represents, with their property director Christopher Ware stating that “Bringing forward this phase of the development will create vital research space for some of the city’s most innovative businesses, and further grow its standing in the bioscience sector.”

Conygar Development has already overseen the reinvention of The Island Quarter as a multi-use area for a variety of businesses and organisations, as well as housing, as highlighted here: Conygar Investment recognises Nottingham’s proud history of innovation in the field of bioscience, with its 200 plus existing bioscience companies proving that the city is the natural choice for a focus on this kind of enterprise.

The Plans For The Site

The new bioscience site plans show that a vast area of 249,000 square metres has been earmarked for the project, which will consist of both a dedicated laboratory and the accompanying office space. There will also be conference zones built in, as well as plenty of parking for employees and visitors. The designs for this new development include two buildings, of five storeys and seven storeys respectively, which will be adjoined by a statement glazed passageway at the upper levels. The landscaping plans have not been forgotten, either, with a beautiful “rainwater garden” included in the developer’s proposals, as well as “medicinal planting” and a street with a focus on ecology that will lead back from the new site to the rest of The Island Quarter.

Opportunity For All

If you fancy trying your hand as a developer, then the best course of action is to take on some expert advice from a specialist firm such as Sam Conveyancing, who will be able to offer guidance on everything from completing a home buyers survey Nottingham, to navigating the paperwork required in creating a dedicated business location such as this bioscience site. After all, with the UK economic downturn expected to last until next summer, now could be the ideal time to explore new avenues into the property market such as this.

Jobs And A Boost To The Economy

The new bioscience site, should the plans be approved, will create lasting benefits for the local region and beyond. It will be a notable provider of employment for the area, with roles to be filled in a vast array of specialisms: from the highly qualified scientific staff who will be carrying out their groundbreaking research, through to essential catering teams and site management personnel. And, of course, by attracting new people to the Nottingham area, the local property market will also receive a welcome boost, as these new workers look for homes to rent or buy near to their new workplace.
